Why did the donut blogger go to Cabela’s….
It’s sound like the beginning of a joke, but it was actually a brilliant way to find donuts! Faddy’s Donuts and Ice Cream can be found under the awning of Cabela’s in East Hartford.
This donut trailer is run by Mike Rittlinger and he has been making donuts & running Faddy’s for 10 years. After feeling like he needed to switch up his previous profession of 27 years, a friend’s suggestion of a donut shop sparked an idea. In that moment Faddy’s was born!
Faddy’s is open under the awning of Cabela’s everyday starting at 8 am and selling delectable donuts throughout the day. These donuts are made fresh right there in the trailer!
After chatting with Mike, I had the wonderful opportunity to try a chocolate frosted and nut covered donut and YUMMMM! Although the winter wind chilled these donuts, after heating them up a little they were still fresh and delicious!!
The entire time I was at Faddy’s the traffic of people stopping to chat and grab a donut was amazing. The Boston Cream is one the fan favorites and is always the first flavor gone out of the batch. The flavors rotate daily depending on how quickly they sell out and how creative Mike feels like being!
Although you may not see Faddy’s much on social media, the loyal customers know Faddy’s for always being ready with a fresh donut. This summer you might see Faddy’s at a few farmers markets, but will always be outside Cabela’s and is always ready for a private event (good to know!!)
“Faddy’s is the best” said one of the customers, and you should definitely stop by the trailer to see why people are flocking to these fresh donuts.

Omg I got my first donut from you today, apple cider cinnamon. I’m almost seventy one and have eaten a lot os donuts in my time but this was the best I ever had. I live in wethersfield so every time I’m in your area I’m going to have to pay you a visit.
